Erin & Brent – Downtown LA Engagement / Seattle Wedding Photographer

I have quite a few engagements to share, and now that our move to Seattle is complete I have time to show off this recent session. Erin and Brent wanted to begin their session near home, in Downtown Los Angeles. I LOVE shooting couples there because the downtown area is so diverse, with so many fun and interesting backdrops and places. We shot a good amount at the beautiful metal clad structure Walt Disney Concert Hall, and then strolled over to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for some photos near their ground fed water fountain.

As the sun began to set we completed the session at Erin’s alma mater, USC. The campus was pretty quiet (a weekend in non-football season will do that) so we were able to get some great intimate shots. Erin and Brent are tying the knot this coming September in Huntington Beach, and I am very much looking forward to their wedding day! I will keep this post short and sweet. My wife Sarah and I have relocated ourselves and our businesses to the beautiful Seattle area. I took the photo above on one of my first trips to Seattle back in 2004. It was love at first sight!

I will still be in Southern California throughout the year for my previous bookings, and will be available for family and weddings in Orange County area as well. I will also offer very affordable travel rates for weddings in the Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties!

Christina & Gregg / Bowers Museum Wedding

Christina and Gregg’s ceremony and reception was held at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, CA. The original museum was built in the 1930′s and has had some beautiful renovations made to certain parts of the property. The new wing that was added in 2007 is the indoor option for the reception portion at Bowers, and it is beautiful.

I had an awesome time documenting Christina and Gregg’s wedding day throughout this venue. From their emotional ceremony to the Top Gun “You’ve lost that loving feeling” re-enactment on the dance floor, their day was beyond special. Thanks to Hoffmann for having me along to 2nd shoot for him!

Vinscena / Huntington Beach Portrait Photography

I had a great time shooting headshots and portraits with Vinscena in Costa Mesa, CA. She wanted to update her headshots and use some for her upcoming website. Vinscena does event coordination and production for her company “Your Chic Life” in Orange County.

I captured this session using multiple photographic formats (35mm film, medium format film, and digital). The black+white photos were shot with the Canon 5dMk2 (using the 85 f/1.2 and 135 f/2). The color photos were shot with a mixture of Canon EOS 3 (135 f/2) and Contax 645 (80 f/2), both film cameras used Portra 400 film.

Gina & Craig / Catalina Island Wedding

A few days prior to Gina & Craig’s wedding day the weather went from a 30% prediction of rain to 100%. Their original location for the ceremony on a bluff overlooking Avalon became impossible to plan on, and they found a plan B at the Hotel Metropole. The island ended up receiving a good amount of rain and wind, although you would have never known any location switch-up happened, as the day went beautifully.

These two were married in a very intimate ceremony with close family and friends in attendance. Their engagement session was a blast, and I loved capturing all of the moments between Gina and Craig on their wedding day. I wish these two all the best in their life together as Mrs.+Mr. Ritter!

Christine & Gregg / Bowers Museum Sneak Peak

Christine & Gregg were married at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. This is the first time I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at this venue, and it was as awesome as I imagined. Their wedding day, the venue, the decor, the people…all very intimate and beautiful. I wanted to share one image of Christine getting ready, and putting on her earrings. Photographing the moments of the bride and groom getting ready are some my favorite to capture. Thanks to Hoffmann for having me along to 2nd shoot for him. The full wedding post will be along soon!

Holly & Eric / Laguna Beach Engagement Photography

Eric has been a friend of mine through the endurance sport scene for years. We have ridden bikes together and explored many of SoCal’s mountain bike trails. Holly is also one super awesome athlete, and competes mostly in trail running and ultra-marathons! These two both train together, and you know what they say, a couple who trains together stays together! I was so happy when Holly and Eric asked me to be the photographer for their big day.

These two are downright in LOVE! We really did laugh and joke throughout 90% of their engagement session, it was a great time. Eric is a Park Ranger at the El Moro/Laguna Beach/Crystal Cove beaches and trails and got us our permits and onto the beach for most of the session. They will be married on the beach in Laguna Beach in a few months, and I cant wait to get my feet wet and photograph their wedding this summer! Scroll down for some images of their session:

Gina & Craig / Catalina Island Wedding Sneak Peak

Gina & Craig were married during a rare California mini storm this past Saturday on Catalina Island at the Hotel Metropole. There were some location changes for the day, and it still went off without even a tiny glitch. After the ceremony Gina swapped out her badgley mishka’s for some rain boots, we grabbed some umbrellas, and we hit the streets of Avalon for portraits. Congrats Gina and Craig, here is one image for now, more to come soon!

Gina & Craig / Palos Verdes Engagement Photography

Gina and Craig rocked their engagement session! They will be tying the knot next month with a very intimate wedding on Catalina Island. We started off the session with some photos at the scenic Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verdes. We wandered around the trails that border the course and found some really neat spots.

Since Gina is a San Pedro local she knew all the cool spots for her engagement photos, and spots both of them had explored together. Our next location was the Historic Point Fermin Lighthouse and Park, built back in the late 1800′s. Obviously the park had some beautiful old trees and the light was gorgeous.

After we stopped for a bite to eat together at this damn good sandwich shop (it’s good to have some local knowledge!) we dropped down by the Harbor and got some photos in an old pretty much abandoned shipping district. It’s safe to say we had a great time during our session, and I am getting more excited by the day to get on over to Catalina on St. Patty’s day for their wedding!

Sneak Peak : Gina & Craig / Palos Verdes Engagement Photography

We were sure glad we postponed our session a day from Wednesday’s rainy and windy madness! The Palos Verdes peninsula was beautiful, offering crystal clear views of Catalina and north and south coasts as far as you could see.
